I parked in the Doumer car park, which I had pre-booked on the hotel’s recommendation. It has number plate recognition so just swing down with confidence - they know you are coming and know who you are! When you climb up the pedestrian stairs to street level, look immediately left and there is the door to the hotel. The gentleman on reception was lovely. He was still there much later when I returned from an evening drink and was (amazingly) still there when I checked out after breakfast. Caen is quite a cool city. I went exploring at 11 pm and immediately found loads of bars full of cool people enjoying their Saturday night. I only stayed out till 12.30 but there was not much sign of things slowing down. Breakfast in the hotel started at 6am (very helpful for ferry travellers) and was generously plentiful. I only paid €70 for the night so unlimited breakfast felt like a bargain! A good experience.

The breakfast was fine. Would have been nice to have granola, but there was a seed mixture that went well with yogurt. Good selection overall. My phone fell out of my pocket the day the taxi driver dropped us off at the hotel. The gentleman working the reception desk called the taxi company and he said they would return it in a few hours. It was not returned, but in the morning Cathy was working the reception desk and she called the taxi company and was insistent they return it. I had my phone in less than an hour. I really appreciated her initiative.

The hotel is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is also typical European which suits me very well. The hotels location is perfect for bars, restaurants and the city centre. Although they don’t have their own car parking there is an underground secure car park within 30meters and only costs euro 1.50 per night between 7pm and 8am . How good is that😀

Trevor

Excellent location for exploring Caen. Breakfast was satisfactory and the staff kindly allowed us to have breakfast earlier than usual so that we could check out with plenty of time to catch our ferry. Particularly liked having the connecting door to the neighbouring room occupied by others in our party.

Clay

Everything except no single beds but as ex Army men we accepted it as the Staff were very and sincerely sorry and did all they could to offset our plight... Parking was handy at Paul Doumer but very expensive... We shall re-visit in 2025 and beyond...
